Rubin Kazan midfielder Yann M’Vila has sparked transfer rumours by attending Liverpool’s 3-3 draw with local rivals Everton on Saturday.
The French international attended the lunch-time game amid rumours that he could seal a January move to England.
Transfer speculation then exploded after the midfielder posted on Facebook that Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho had invited him as a guest of honour to the game.
On his official Facebook page, M’Vila said: "Thank you to Mamadou Sakho for his invitation. I have taken a great deal of pleasure to come see this derby between Everton and Liverpool - a great game of football.
"I’m going back with the jersey of Steven Gerrard, one of my favourite players. Mamad, thank you again brother!”
The former Rennes man made the lucrative move to Russia last season in a £9.6m deal, but Rubin have endured a tough season, with M’Vila thought to be considering his options for the immediate future.
Queens Park Rangers were credited with an interest in M’Vila last January, with then manager Harry Redknapp identifying the midfielder as the man to save the Hoops from relegation.
However, the move failed to ever materialise, meaning that the Frenchman is yet to test himself in the Premier League.
