Life after Sir Alex Ferguson was always going to be difficult for Manchester United. But, nobody would have predicted that after 12 games the reigning Premier League champions would already be seven points adrift of leaders Arsenal.

Sunday's disappointing 2-2 draw with newly-promoted Cardiff City left the Red Devils in a lowly sixth place in the table, and prompted Joey Barton to label David Moyes's current Manchester United side "easily their worst in Premiership history".
