Manchester United and Chelsea are set to go head-to-head in their battle to sign Sevilla defender Alberto Moreno, reports the Daily Mail.

Both David Moyes and Jose Mourinho are said to be in the market for a new left-back in the January market.

Moyes, who came close to signing Fabio Coentrao from Real Madrid during the summer transfer window, is keen on signing a left-back who could seriously challenge Manchester United star Patrice Evra.

The former Everton boss also submitted an offer for Leighton Baines but was denied the chance of linking back up with the Toffees defender.

Mourinho is also said to be keen on bolstering his left-back options as Ashley Cole has been out of form and Cesar Azpilicueta prefers playing at right-back.

Moreno, who has a buy-out clause of £25million, is also attracting interest from Real Madrid.

The 21-year-old has played 16 games for Sevilla so far this season.
