Arsene Wenger says Jack Wilshere has been inspired by the form of his team mate Aaron Ramsey to score more goals and get back to his best.
Wilshere scored both goals in Arsenal's 2-0 win over Marseille on Tuesday night taking his tally for the season up to four.
The game marked one of Wilshere's best in an Arsenal shirt and suggests that the Gunners may have another goal scoring midfielder in their ranks.
Wilshere, 21, has suffered indifferent form this season and has struggled to recreate his best performances or reach peak fitness for the best part of two seasons.
Ramsey, on the other hand, has emerged as one of the brightest players in the Premier League and has stunned critics by scoring 11 goals in all competitions for the club.
The 22-year-old's form threatened to put Wilshere firmly in the shadows at the Emirates but Wenger claims the England international has been inspired to improve as a result of Ramsey's emergence.
"He's coming back to a good level now," stated Wenger to reporters. "You could see that on Saturday [against Southampton] and again in this game. He has started to score goals and I like what I see from him in this game.
"He is starting to think, 'what Aaron Ramsey can do, I can do'. You can see [against Marseille] that he is free to move in from his position on the flank and he does that in an intelligent way.
"What is most important in a good football team is that many players can score and that many players can get chances. This time it was him [Wilshere] and another time it will be someone else."
Wilshere himself also believes that he is finally overcoming the ankle injuries that have plagued his career for the past three years.
"I played 90 minutes on Saturday, 75 minutes tonight and I'm feeling good at the moment, I'm feeling fit," Wilshere told ITV Sport. "I set myself a target of 10 goals [for the season] and I have four now, so hopefully I get there.
"Overall it was a great win against a good Marseille side. We created a lot of chances tonight, we played great. We and this was a good win at home. We got in behind them, got the two goals and we are happy with a win."
