Many were left wondering how long it would take for Sir Alex Ferguson to get itchy feet and make a return to the Manchester United dressing room.

Following David Moyes' initial struggle to get the grips with the Manchester United job, fans called for the famous Scot to step out of the boardroom and back in to the dugout to resolve a deteriorating situation at Old Trafford.

And it seems Ferguson could stay away no longer as he paid a visit to the Manchester United dressing room.

But it wasn't to discuss tactics or dust off the hairdryer, it was simply to congratulate to players after their fantastic 5-0 win against Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League.

The five goal romp was the biggest away win for Manchester United since 1964, giving Moyes one over Fergie as he attempts to emulate his predecessor.

Ferguson had been spotted alongside fellow director David Gill in the stands and it seems the former simply couldn't resist the chance to heap praise upon the playing and coaching staff.

Sir Alex, who spent 27 glory-filled years as manager of Manchester United, has been in constant contact with his successor Moyes since retiring in May.
