Manchester United boss David Moyes sent assistant manager Steve Round and coach Jimmy Lumsden to the Westfalenstadion in Germany on Tuesday night to watch German attacking-midfielder Marco Reus, according to The Times.

The German international impressed in the European clash as he scored one and created one as Borussia Dortmund beat Italian giants Napoli 3-1.

And with the Manchester United boss desperate for new additions to his squad, it now looks likely the Red Devils chief will step up in his pursuit of the 24-year-old.

However, the United boss may have difficulties in bringing the German star to the Theatre of Dreams. Reports have suggested the €35 million release clause in Reus' contract don't take effect until the end of the season after this one.

With Dortmund desperate to keep their prize asset at the club, Manchester United may struggle to bring him to the club in January. It has previously been reported that the Red Devils are willing to offer Japanese playmaker Shinji Kagawa for the services of Reus

However, after the Japanese international starred in Manchester United;s 5-0 demolition of Bayer Leverkusen on Wednesday night, Kagawa may now get more opportunities to play in his desired No.10 role as he looks to save his Old Trafford career.
