Chelsea duo to miss Southampton clash

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has confirmed that both Samuel Eto'o and David Luiz will miss the game against Southampton at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

Eto'o picked up a groin injury in Chelsea's 1-0 defeat against Basel in mid-week, while Luiz didn't make the trip to Switzerland because of a knee complaint.

Both have been ruled out of the game against Southampton but aren't expected to spend too much time on the sidelines.

Eto'o, who joined Chelsea from Anzhi Makhachkala for free over the summer, was stretchered off against Basel, but should return after two weeks, while Luiz trained earlier today and should be ready to return after Sunday's encounter.

Torres is likely to come back into the Chelsea team having only recently overcoming his own injury problems. The Spaniard hasn't featured for the Blues since the start of the month.

“David trained today with the team but it was for the first time and he doesn’t look in condition to be back for this weekend,” Mourinho explained at his press conference earlier today.

“The information I have on Eto’o is that it is a grade one muscular injury, which we think will be two weeks.

“I threw that number into the air but when I say two weeks, it won’t be a month. It could be 10 days – around two weeks.”
