Arsenal ace stops playing despite being clean through

Olivier Giroud has been in fine form for Arsenal this season but it's likely he got a telling off from boss Arsene Wenger after his embarrassing gaffe against Cardiff.

The Frenchman, who has seven league goals to his name, had the chance to open the scoring during this afternoon's game when he was played through on goal.

However, for reasons known only to himself he stopped when he would have been odds-on to score despite the linesman's flag staying down. When replays showed he was well onside, the incident became even more inexplicable.

In his defence, it looks as though the Arsenal man believed Mesut Ozil had flicked the ball on it's way through to him which would have left him offside.

Luckily for him, it didn't affect the outcome of the game as the Gunners ran out 3-0 winners to consolidate their spot at the top of the Premier League.

Imagine what Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger would have said had they lost!
