Chelsea target Radamel Falcao will not be sold in the January transfer window, according to Monaco's vice president Vadim Vasilyev, but there is still speculation that a move could come to fruition in the summer.

The Colombia international has scored nine goals since his high-profile move from Atletico Madrid, propelling Monaco to third place in Ligue 1, but he continues to be linked with a move away from the Stade Louis II.

Chelsea have a long-standing interest in the player and recent reports claim the club had agreed a fee with Atletico Madrid only for Roman Abramovich to pull the plug on the proposed deal, instead deciding to keep faith with Fernando Torres.

Falcao could, though, secure a transfer to Chelsea as Monaco look to balance the books to fall in line with UEFA's Financial Fair Play regulations, having spent exorbitant sums since the takeover by Dmitry Rybolovlev.

But any potential switch to Stamford Bridge will have to wait until the end of the season, with Monaco not entertaining the prospect of Falcao leaving next month.

"He is very happy here, he feels very good in Monaco," Vasilyev told Le10Sport.

"We also dined with him and his wife [in Monaco] a few days ago, with the president and he loves this club, the city, etc. So there is no problem and he will not leave in January, that's for sure."

This, perhaps, is why Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho claimed last week that the club would not look to recruit a striker in the next transfer window, but instead address their options when the current campaign ends.
