New York Knicks star Iman Shumpert has played down reports he has fallen out with teammate Carmelo Anthony.

Shumpert was seen shouting at Anthony during the third-quarter of the New York Knicks' match against the New Orleans Pelicans.

Shooting guard Shumpert was unhappy with the way Anthony was defending and refused to hold back during the interval.

Knicks head coach Mike Woodson decided to leave Shumpert on the bench during the final quarter of his side's 103-99 loss to the Pelicans after witnessing the row.

Shumpert said after the match that it was a 'miscommunication' rather than a heated argument.

Sunday's defeat was the Knicks' ninth straight consecutive defeat and leaves the New York-based franchise second from bottom in the Eastern Conference.
