Januzaj can emulate Ozil - Berg

Henning Berg believes Adnan Januzaj will develop into a world-class player, and compared the Manchester United midfielder in playing style to Arsenal star Mesut Ozil, reports

The former Red Devils defender has backed the 18-year-old to become a global star of the future, and as long as he keeps his head down and works hard, will be destined for greatness in the modern game.

"David Moyes said he lacks one or two world-class players for the team to be top in Europe but I think he has one extra world-class player coming through the ranks," Berg told Manchester United's official website.

"He reminds me of Mesut Ozil in terms of temperament, awareness and understanding. I said that when I first saw him.

"He just needs to be handled the right way and I'm 100 per cent sure that the manager will know how to do it and, if not, they can always ask Sir Alex."

Berg's comparison between Januzaj and Arsenal's German playmaker - who arrived at the Emirates Stadium in a £42.5million club-record deal in the summer - is unlikely to please many Gunners fans, given the teenager's relative inexperience compared to the former Real Madrid star, widely regarded as one of the world's best players.

"People should not take these things for granted because you don't see players like this come through very often," Berg added. "So supporters and fans should appreciate seeing a kid like that playing with the big players because that is something special.

"But we should not expect him to do it every game. Maybe the last one he played, at Cardiff, you could see that things won't be 100 per cent every time but from what he has done so far, he has been fantastic."

Januzaj burst onto the scene at Old Trafford at the start of the season, and caught the eye with his brace, and match-winning performance during Manchester United's 2-1 victory over Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.

He was recently named on the shortlist for the BBC's Young Sports Personality of the Year award, and could feature for the Premier League champions in tomorrow night's clash against Everton.
