Napoli are ready to make a move for Barcelona star Alex Song, according to talkSPORT.

The Catalans midfielder has struggled for first team opportunities in La Liga and has also been linked with a move back to the Premier League.

Song, who left Arsenal in 2012, has been tipped for a move back to north London and has also been the subject of interest from Manchester United.

However it now looks likely that Italian giants Napoli will make a move for the 26-year-old in January.

Rafa Benitez is hoping to strengthen his midfield options at the club and Song could now be tempted by a move to the club as he goes in search of first team football.

With Manchester United and Arsenal monitoring Song's situation, Benitez may also have to battle his Serie A rivals, AC Milan and Inter Milan if he is going to bring Song to the Stadio San Paolo.

It remains to be seen whether the interest shown from Benitez makes Manchester United and Arsenal step up in their pursuit of the midfielder.
