Chelsea striker misses sitter against Sunderland

Chelsea striker Fernando Torres has had his critics during a less than spectacular stint at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues’ supporters have always backed the Spanish striker during his time in west London, but this miss might push their patience a little further.

It happened in the 57th minute of their 4-3 win over Sunderland, when man-of-the-match Eden Hazard cut inside and had a shot saved by Vito Mannone.

The rebound fell to Torres who, from eight-yards out, had a fantastic chance to put Chelsea 3-2 ahead.

However, the forward – low on confidence – leaned back and sent the ball sky high into the stands.

It’s another moment to forget for the £50million-man, who is still struggling to find his very best form under manager Jose Mourinho.
