Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho believes Manchester United are not yet out of the title race - even after the Red Devils slumped to a fourth Premier League defeat.
The Portuguese coach admits the reigning champions face a tough challenge to successfully defend their title, but has refused to rule out David Moyes' men, who suffered a 1-0 loss to Everton at Old Trafford on Wednesday night.
"It's difficult," Mourinho told reporters after his side recorded a 4-3 victory over Sunderland at the Stadium of Light, "but with Manchester United everything is possible."
United now sit 12 points behind league-leaders Arsenal in ninth place - and five points off fourth-placed Liverpool.
However, Moyes is also optimistic that United can recover from their poor start and finish in pole position next May.
In his post-match press conference, when asked whether his side could still win the Premier League title, Moyes responded: "Yeah, I've got nothing to suggest anything else."
