Recent speculation has been rife with linking Manchester United to Borussia Dortmund star Marco Reus.
However with United's chances of qualifying for the Champions League looking increasingly sleek, and Reus not being the type of player who is going to actively seek a move to a club who aren't competing in Europe's Premier tournament, the move is looking evermore impossible.
But there are always alternatives to a player.
Though the listed players might not be as good as Reus they would certainly fit into the United XI- and go some way to improving it. To the Manchester United fans wondering if there is an alternative to Reus, the answer is yes in this case.
*Before we start there are two crucial points to how his alternatives were selected:
1. The player must have played on the left wing for an extended period this season.
2. The player needs to possess the upside to reach Reus' level.
Here are the alternatives -
1. Antoine Griezmann
The 22-year-old, who has a £25 million buyout clause, is contracted with the Real Sociedad until 2016.
Ryan Giggs could play a big role in bringing the wide man to United as Griezmann considers the legendary Red Devils winger as his idol.
He would be an excellent addition for the Premier League champions, who have lacked quality on the wings so far under David Moyes.
2. Koke
The creative midfielder has been dubbed the ‘next Xavi’ and could solve the creativity problem in United’s midfield.
In 13 appearances for Atletico Madrid this season, he has scored twice and assisted seven goals from 23 key passes. Definitely one for the future.
3. Angel Di Maria
David Moyes is supposedly a big admirer of the Argentina international and with chances of him playing in the Madrid first team looking slimmer with the increasingly brilliant form of Gareth Bale, there's no doubt that the Scot will try to bring him in.
