Liverpool are interested in signing Fenerbahce left-back Caner Erkin, according to the Daily Star.

Anfield boss Brendan Rodgers is looking to sign a left-sided full-back in the January transfer window - due to Jose Enrique's recent injury nightmare.

Enrique has played just eight games for Liverpool so far this season, as his appearances have been limited due to a knee injury.

The former Newcastle star is expected to be sidelined until next year as he is undergoing knee surgery.

Rodgers does have Aly Cissokho at his disposal - however the Northern Irish tactician is keen on adding more strength in depth to his squad.

Erkin is said to be at the top of Rodgers' transfer list after impressing for Fenerbahce this season.

The Turkey international, who has 23 international caps to his name, has claimed nine assists for Fenerbahce already this season.

The 25-year-old could be available for a minimal fee in January, as his current deal at the Istanbul-based side expires at the end of the season.
