Paulinho proving a better buy than Fernandinho

This summer's transfer window saw the arrival of two Brazilians to the English Premier League.

José Paulo Bezerra Maciel Junior (Paulinho), 25-years-old, signed from Corinthians to Tottenham Hotspur on 6th July 2013 for a sum of £17 million.

Fernando Luiz Rosa (Fernandinho), 28-years-old, signed from Shakhtar Donetsk to Manchester City on 6th June 2013 for a sum of £30 million.

Who has been the most successful so far?

In the Premier League Paulinho has scored a total of two goals in 15 appearances. He also has two assists to his name and has a total of 46 shots at goal. In other competitions Paulinho has scored one goal in two appearances in the League Cup and one goal from two appearances (1 as substitute) in the Europa League.

Fernandinho's totals in the Premier League are no goals scored in 13 appearances. He has 2 assists and a total of 7 shots at goal in the colours of Manchester City. In other competitions, he has scored no League Cup goals in 1 appearance and no Champions League goals in 5 appearances.

The statistics suggest that Paulinho has had more success in the colours of Tottenham. He has had more shots at goal and more goals scored in all competitions played.

For thirty million pounds spent on Fernandinho, the early statistics suggest that Manchester City would have been better going for the man that Spurs signed..

Will Paulinho's fine run of form continue until the end of the season, making him the best Brazilian purchase of the summer 2013?
