Despite its global prominence, selection of top-class talent and apparent unpredictability, there remains a vocal band of people who believe that certain star departures have seen the Premier League suffer a worrying decline in quality.

With the high-profile and high-cost defections of the likes of Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo and former Tottenham talisman Gareth Bale - both of whom left the top-flight for La Liga giants Real Madrid - some appear to be convinced that English football is lacking in true star quality.

At GMS towers, however, we find it difficult to subscribe to such a view. There is no denying that the likes of Bale and Ronaldo were world-class footballers whose presence in this country is sorely missed, but even in their absence their remains a plethora of fantastic players who epitomise the quality that runs through the Premier League.

With that in mind, here GMS looks at ten Premier League talents whose quality is such that, for the good of the division itself, must surely not be allowed leave to further their career opportunities overseas.
