Chelsea and Manchester United target Nicolas Otamendi is all set to depart Porto in the January transfer window, according to Portuguese newspaper A Bola.

The Argentinian centre-back, who has been heavily linked with the Premier League duo since the end of the summer transfer window, is said to be preparing to say his good-byes to his team-mates in the coming weeks, in anticipation of a move in January.

Monaco are also hot on the tails of the 25-year-old, who is available for around €30million, and will provide stiff competition for both Jose Mourinho and David Moyes.

Chelsea are particularly interested in capturing the Porto star as Mourinho believes he will fit into his defence well and firm up the back line. Reports had previously rose to prominence suggesting that he had already agreed terms at Stamford Bridge, but these were later quashed.

David Moyes has also been keeping an eye on Otamendi's progress this year as he's impressed in the Portuguese Primera Liga.

With the centre-back now all but ready to leave at the turn of the New Year, it's likely fans will witness a step up in the attempts to sign him.
