Manchester United boss David Moyes is set to begin spending big in January in order to save the club's season, with Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Blaise Matuidi and Roma ace Kevin Strootman high on his list of preferred targets.
According to the Express the pair, who have both been marked as targets for the Premier League champions in the past, are viewed as being ideal additions to the United squad by Moyes, who is looking to flex his financial muscle.
Strootman only transferred to Roma last summer and so it is believed it could take an offer of around £20million to secure his services, whilst Matuidi's contract is up at the end of the current campaign and so PSG are likely to be willing to cash in on him before he leaves for nothing- a figure of £7million has been mooted.
Moyes is likely to face competition from both Chelsea and Manchester City for the latter as they too have identified him as a target, but the Scot will know that he cannot afford failure in the winter transfer window after the debacles of the summer.
With a raft of departures expected to be witnessed at Old Trafford it is likely that the £27million purchases of Strootman and Matuidi won't be the only introductions to the United squad.
