Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny decided to share a photo of a gruesome laceration suffered during last weekend's clash with Manchester City last weekend with fans, posting the image on his official Facebook page.

Koscielny was forced off after 39 minutes at the Etihad with a deep cut to his knee following a last-ditch attempt to stop Alvaro Negredo scoring City's second goal from close range.

The French international looked likely to be facing a long spell on the sidelines, but has attempted to calm fears over his long-term fitness using social media.

A message posted to his 108,294 Facebook fans included the image above and the message: "A not too serious injury for Laurent."

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger admitted immediately after the match that he expects Koscienly to be out "for a while", but the centre-back may be able to return quicker that expected if the cut heels.

Koscielny is very unlikely to feature in Arsenal's next Premier League game, with Gunners captain Thomas Vermaelen likely to fill in alongside Per Mertesacker for next Monday's crunch clash with Chelsea.
