Arsenal or Liverpool playmaker signing could trigger Mata move

A move to either Arsenal or Liverpool for Javier Pastore could see Chelsea star Juan Mata move to Paris Saint-Germain.

That’s the claim from The Daily Star, who cite speculation in France when reportong that the French giants are eager to bring the Spanish playmaker to the Parc des Princes.

Mata has endured a difficult season at Stamford Bridge, following Jose Mourinho’s return as Chelsea manager.

‘The Special One’ has often left the 25-year-old out of his Blues side this season, with the attacking midfielder forced to watch from the sidelines for large spells.

And, the Ligue 1 champions appear ready to pounce for the two-time Chelsea Player of the Year if he remains on the periphery in west London.

A deal appears to hinge on Pastore however, with the English paper claiming both the Reds and Gunners are keen on the Argentine international.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is looking to strengthen his side in the summer transfer window, as they look to maintain their position at the top of the Premier League table.

He added to his Gunners side in the attacking midfield position with the arrival of Mesut Ozil in the summer, whilst Santi Cazorla also impressed at the Emirates Stadium last season.

The arrival of Pastore would provide the Frenchman with even more options, and make Arsenal a formidable opponent for anyone domestically.

Liverpool are unlikely to let their rivals have it all their own way though, with Brendan Rodgers also reported to be keen on the former Palermo star.

The Reds are another side who have impressed this season, with Philippe Coutinho settling into the side after his arrival at Anfield in January.

Pastore could give Liverpool even more power going forward, and with Luis Suarez in such scintillating form in-front of goal, it would be hard for anyone to stop the Merseyside giants.
