Tottenham and Arsenal both look set to miss out on the signing of Brazilian midfielder Hernanes, after it was revealed by his agent that his wish is to stay at Lazio, talkSPORT reports.

The north London giants have both been heavily linked with the Serie A playmaker in recent months, despite the fact that Lazio are desperate to convince him to stay.

But now it seems as though the Italian outfit will have been granted their wish, with Hernanes' agent, Joseph Lee, confirming that his client is happy to remain where he is rather than seek a move to the Premier League.

"The boy is having a great time in Rome and is happy at Lazio. He has a contract that he intends to comply with and therefore I see no problems," Lee told Italian sources.

"Sometimes there was interest, but nothing concrete. No-one has put forward any proposals for my client, who I repeat is happy to be at Lazio."

The £22million star is currently contracted to Lazio with a deal that ties him to the Stadio Olimpico until 2015, though the club are thought to be trying their best to extend his stay.

Hernanes has been eyed by Arsene Wenger, who is attempting to improve the squad depth of his side, whereas Tottenham have long been admirers of the former Sao Paulo man.
