Chelsea star defies Mourinho to attend Arsenal party

Chelsea left-back Ashley Cole could be in hot water with manager Jose Mourinho after tagging along to Arsenal's Christmas party on Wednesday night, according to Sportsmail.

The England international, who has not started a Premier League match since the 2-0 defeat to Newcastle United in early November after losing his place to Cesar Azpilicueta, was reportedly joined at the festive bash at London nightspot Libertine by current teammates Ryan Bertrand and Andre Schurrle.

All three players could now face the wrath of Mourinho, who opted to cancel his team's Christmas party, which was scheduled to take place on the same night and same location as Arsenal's, following Tuesday night's 2-1 defeat to Sunderland in the Capital One Cup quarter-finals.

The Portuguese coach had not imposed a curfew on his players, but he is unlikely to have been impressed with the trio's decision to mix with Arsenal's players considering the two title contenders meet in a huge Premier League fixture next Monday night.

There is also the fact that Cole is a former Arsenal player. The full-back, who turns 33 later this month, rose up through the Gunners' youth ranks before making his senior debut in 1998.

He spent six years at Highbury before controversially leaving the north London club to join Chelsea in 2006.
