The pinnacle of football is undoubtedly putting the ball into the back of the net. That one moment of euphoria and unbridled delight when the collective efforts of ten other men come together for one man to jab the ball into the back of the net is unmatched by, say, a sweet tackle, or a slide-rule pass.
In that moment, fame, fortune, success and victory is yours, and yours alone. The crowd roars, and your team-mates go wild. Contrary to whatever those lot over at the Blizzard say, goals are not overrated. So pipe down, Jonathan Wilson.
With that in mind spare a moment for the likes of Frank Sinclair who built a career on scoring, but in the wrong net.
Regardless of how painful own goals are for the supporters of the team on the receiving end of them, for everyone else they're pretty damn funny.
Here to highlight such perfect examples of buffoonery, idiocy and downright lunacy, we think we've found the seven greatest own goals of all time.
