Manchester United have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Porto left-back Alex Sandro after it has emerged that the Portuguese outfit are interested in the signing of Inter Milan star Alvaro Pereira, reports talkSPORT.

If Porto can complete the signing of Pereira, who plays in the same position as Sandro, then United may get a clear run at the signing of Sandro.

With the Red Devils desperate to land a new left-back at the club, recent reports have suggested that David Moyes will make a swoop for Brazilian international Sandro.

Although it remains to be seen as to whether Manchester United will make a move for Sandro in January, however with Moyes looking to find a long term replacement for Patrice Evra, the Brazilian star could end up at the Theatre of Dreams.

And United will be hoping Porto can seal a deal for Pereria as Sandro may then become available to the Red Devils.

However Manchester United's immediate focus will be on their clash with West Ham United tomorrow. The Red Devils will be looking to make it four straight wins as they host the Hammers at Old Trafford.
