Arsenal are ready to stage a sensational double swoop on Real Madrid stars Iker Casillas and Alvaro Morata, according to the Daily Star.

Arsene Wenger moved to deny rumours that he wanted to sign the 21-year-old striker, but is still looking to bring in reinforcements in the January transfer window.

With Arsenal's position at the top of the table looking fragile, Wenger knows he must bring in new faces to strengthen their bid for a first Premier League title in a decade.

And now the Gunners boss is not only looking to sign Morata from the Bernabeu but also wants to bring in living legend Casillas as well.

Arsenal are keen to add competition both up front and between the sticks and see the pair, who are both struggling to get in to the Real Madrid team, as the perfect additions to their line-up.

Casillas is yet to appear in La Liga for Real Madrid this season and is starting to grow concerned that his World Cup place with Spain could be in doubt.

Although Morata has 10 appearances in the league this season, he has come off the bench in nine of those, and isn't getting the game time he needs to develop in to a full time Spain international.

Morata could give Olivier Giroud the back-up he needs. The French striker has been in good form for the Emirates outfit this season but is beginning to suffer from the reliance placed on his shoulders - he hasn't scored in his last five games.

Casillas is wanted to bring competition for current number one Wojciech Szczesny and provide options as Lukas Fabianski is expected to leave when his contract expires in June.
