Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is monitoring a mystery Bundesliga striker as he looks to improve his attacking options next month, according to the Daily Mail.

The report claims the Gunners manager is ‘interested in a striker in Germany’ although it fails to elaborate on who this might be.

Wenger is expected to be active in the transfer market next month, with another forward to supplement Olivier Giroud thought to be a priority.

Arsenal have enjoyed a strong start to the Premier League season, and currently sit joint top of the table with Liverpool. But with Nicklas Bendtner the club’s only reserve striker, there’s a feeling they need to bring in at least one other forward in case of injury to Giroud.

The Gunners have been linked with a number of strikers, including players based in Germany like Borussia Dortmund’s Robert Lewandowski.

The Arsenal board are prepared to back Wenger in the transfer market next month as he attempts to build a squad capable of mounting a season-long title challenge.
