Chelsea are weighing up a January move for highly-rated Lokeren midfielder Ayanda Patosi, according to the Daily Mirror.

The 21-year-old is valued at £1.5million, and has also attracted admiring glances from Eredivisie giants Ajax, who could rival the Blues for the player's signature when the transfer window reopens.

Jose Mourinho has been credited with an interest in bringing Patosi to Stamford Bridge, despite his wealth of midfield options he currently has at Chelsea.

The South Africa international has been in fine form for Lokeren in 2013/14, and was earlier today named Belgian Pro League Player of the Week.

It's not yet clear whether Patosi would consider a move to the Premier League, but after regaining his fitness and form following injury - which kept him out of action during the second half of last season - he is playing himself into transfer contention.

If he were to sign for Chelsea, Patosi would follow in the footsteps of Romelu Lukaku, Kevin de Bruyne and Thibaut Courtois, who each swapped Belgium for west London in recent years.
