Real Madrid and Barcelona are reported to have moved ahead of Chelsea and Manchester United in pursuit of eight-year-old Argentine Claudio Gabriel Nancufil who, predictably, is being compared to Lionel Messi.

The youngster currently plays for a junior club in Bariloche and appears set to follow in the footsteps of Messi by leaving his native Argentina for a move to one of the world's most prominent clubs.

According to The Mirror, Nancufil has undertaken two week trials with both Real Madrid and Barcelona and his family have now sanctioned sports agency Sueno Comunicacione to clinch a move to one of these sides.

Chelsea and Manchester United had both been linked with the player but, it would appear, both Jose Mourinho and David Moyes are set to fail in their attempts to bring him to Stamford Bridge and Old Trafford, respectively.

The fleet-footed tyke has become something of a viral internet hit thanks to videos showing his close control and dribbling skills and, naturally, this has strengthened the comparisons with Messi.

Nancufil is known as 'Snow Messi' given that he resides in a town in the foothills of the Andes.
