Jose Mourinho wants to bring Real Madrid star Xabi Alonso to Chelsea, reports The Mirror

The Blues boss previously worked with the Spanish international at the Bernabeu and now looks ready to swoop for the 32-year-old midfielder.

Alonso has previously had a successful spell in the Premier League whilst playing for Liverpool, however he could now be tempted with another stint in England's elite division.

The Spanish star has yet to put pen to paper on a new deal at Real Madrid and with Chelsea lurking it could prove just a matter of time before Alonso makes a Premier League return.

Jose Mourinho looks set to add to his squad in January as his side go in search of trophy success.

Chelsea currently sit in third place in the league table just two points behind leaders Arsenal. Jose Mourinho's side have also booked their place in the knockout stages of the Champions League however Alonso would be cup tied in Europe if he was to join the Blues.
