Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard could make a long-awaited return to the side on New Year's day when Brendan Rodger's side host Hull City at Anfield.
The Reds have seen their hopes of clinching the Premier League title damaged of late following consecutive defeats against challengers Manchester City and Chelsea, but the reintroduction of Gerrard could offer the boost they require.
Liverpool were at the top of the pile on Christmas day but, only a week later, find themselves in fifth position and six points behind leaders Arsenal. Victory against Hull, then, would appear to be imperative.
Given their prolific form at home this season it is difficult to look beyond anything other than a Liverpool victory, although Hull plundered six second-half goals in their last outing against Fulham.
Along with Gerrard, meanwhile, Rodgers is likely to include Aly Cissokho after Mamadou Sakho sustained an injury in the closing stages of the 2-1 loss to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
Liverpool predicted line-up to face Hull City…
Simon Mignolet; Glen Johnson, Daniel Agger, Martin Skrtel, Aly Cissokho; Lucas Leiva, Steven Gerrard, Jordan Henderson; Raheem Sterling, Philippe Coutinho, Luis Suarez.
