Manchester United and Chelsea transfer target Fredy Guarin has dropped a potentially significant hint in the race for his signature next month (January).

The highly-rated Inter Milan midfielder has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League in the New Year, with £15million reportedly enough to bring the player to England from the San Siro.

And, it appears that the Blues have the edge over the Red Devils, with Jose Mourinho the best in the business in the eyes of the 27-year-old.

“Jose Mourinho? He is simply number one,” Guarin told reporters in the Colombian press when discussing the Chelsea boss.

The Stamford Bridge outfit spent heavily in the summer, with ‘the special one’ strengthening in a number of areas on his return to west London.

However, Chelsea have yet to find top form this season, and the arrival of Guarin could be a significant addition in 2014.

As for Manchester United, they were linked with a move for the former Porto star at the start of December, and are another team that have failed to find their very best form under a new manager.

David Moyes replaced Sir Alex Ferguson at the Red Devils helm in the summer, and failed to make his mark in the transfer window – missing out on some big names before bringing Marouane Fellaini to Old Trafford.

The arrival of Guarin would be a coup for Manchester United, and could also help the champions get back into Premier League title contention this season.
