During Arsenal's period of frugality that largely came to characterise the club following their move from Highbury to the Emirates Stadium, the club quickly developed a strong reputation for nurturing younger players and giving such starlets their chance to impress on the biggest stage.

Although the £42.5 million deadline day signing of German playmaker Mesut Ozil appeared to signal the end of such a frustrating period, there are still a number of talented youngsters at the club who will hope that they are able to prove themselves worthy of a first-team berth during the coming seasons.

One such starlet is England youth international Chukwuemeka 'Chuks' Aneke. The 20-year-old has yet to make an appearance for Arsenal and Arsene Wenger has been content to see the player sent out on loan in each of the last three consecutive campaigns.

Aneke, currently in his second temporary with League One outfit Crewe Alexandra, must have given Arsenal supporters and Wenger food for thought with a quite sensational goal for the Alex on New Year's Day.

During a 2-1 win for the Railwaymen over Carlisle United, Aneke notched his fourth goal of the season with a quite extraordinary effort to give the hosts the lead eight minutes after half-time.

After the ball was layed off smartly to him in the penalty area, Aneke reacted with excellent anticipation and dispatched the ball effortlessly into the top corner in a formidable display of technique and skill.
