Manchester United want Luke Shaw or Baines in January

Manchester United are no longer interested in trying to sign Sevilla's Alberto Moreno as David Moyes wants to bring either Luke Shaw or Leighton Baines to Old Trafford.

The Daily Star claim Manchester United will let rivals Chelsea have a free run on trying to land £25m-rated Moreno as Moyes is keen on signing Shaw or Baines this month.

Manchester United boss Moyes is desperate to add another left-back to his ranks as Patrice Evra looks set to leave the Premier League champions at the end of the season.

Moyes' only other option at left-back is Alex Buttner, however the Dutchman has also been linked with a move away from Manchester United.

The former Everton boss tried to sign Baines in the summer but failed to convince the Toffees into selling the England international.

Shaw is also said to be on Moyes' shortlist - despite the fact Southampton boss Mauricio Pochettino has said on several occasions that the teenager will not be leaving St Mary's in January.

Manchester United came close to signing Real Madrid's Fabio Coentrao on loan during the summer transfer window but the deal did not go through due to paperwork issues.

It was originally thought that Moyes would make another bid for Coentrao this month, however it now seems the Scotsman would rather sign someone with Premier League experience.
