New York Knicks are now riding the crest of a wave with three victories in four games after they edged Detroit last night.

The real assessment of the Knicks though will come Thursday 8pm ET at Madison Square Garden when they host a NBA Champion Miami side, who will come into town oozing skills and swagger.

Carmelo Anthony was the kingpin for the Knicks as he scored 34 points to help his team hold off the Pistons Tuesday.

Despite a recent upsurge in quality play, New York's record is a dismal 12-22, but they're only 4.5 games back in the Atlantic Division in the Eastern Conference.

If the Knicks cope with the talents of LeBron and Dwayne Wade, their hopes of getting to the play-offs, which were almost non-existent a few weeks ago, will be given a huge boost.

One thing remains crucial, Anthony insists his team can't play with fear against Miami. "We've got to face them someway, somehow. One day or the other," he told ESPN.

"It is what it is. We can't run from them. I think we're getting better each day. Them guys [Miami] are playing well. We've got to lace our sneakers up like they do come Thursday."
