Liverpool are set to be without Daniel Agger for up to a month, after the defender picked up a calf strain during the FA Cup victory over Oldham Athletic, according to Goal.
The star centre-back was substituted during the fixture last Sunday and fears that he could miss important clashes against Everton (Jan 28) and Arsenal (Feb 8) were confirmed when the 28-year-took to Twitter to confirm that he will be sidelined for up to four weeks.
Agger tweeted: "Disappointed with my injury! But I hope to be back strong within 4 weeks! Thanks for all the supporting tweets. ynwa."
Liverpool have thus far enjoyed an incredibly promising first-half to the 2013/14 campaign and Agger has been an important part of the side which currently sits 4th in the Premier League.
The news will undoubtedly come as a blow to Reds fans, who see Agger as one of the linchpins of their squad.
However the damage will have significantly been dampened by the fact that the Danish international has pledged his long-term future to Anfield. Frequent appearances as a substitute had prompted talks that he could be on his way out, but he has insisted he wants to stay at the club.
