LeBron James has told his close friend Carmelo Anthony to do whatever makes him happy.
Anthony has been linked with a move away from Madison Square Garden as he will become a free agent in the summer.
A number of franchises will be queuing up to lure Anthony to their side if he does decide to leave the New York Knicks, a situation which James experienced in 2010.
James was being chased by the Knicks, the Chicago Bulls and had the option of staying at the Cleveland Cavaliers but decided to join the Heat.
The 29-year-old announced his decision on television to the delight of Miami Heat fans and to the disgust of Cleveland Cavaliers spectators.
James knows all about what Anthony is going to go through during the next couple of months and has decided to offer his American teammate some words of advice.
The forward, speaking to the New York Daily News, said on Anthony: “[He should do] whatever makes him happy.
“You have to do whatever makes [you] happy at the end of the day. If you’re happy, the game of basketball is going to be fun for you.
"Strive to be great every day and you can live with whatever else happens. So we’ll see.”
James was speaking before his side lost 102-92 to Anthony's Knicks at Madison Square Garden.
