Sports minister Richard Caborn insists foreign investment in English football will be monitored by an international inquiry to ensure it does not distort the game.

The minister would not comment on Alexandre Gaydamak, the son of a Russian billionaire who is set to take a 50% stake in Portsmouth, but said there was general concern about the game being distorted by money.

Caborn told PA Sport: "I don´t want to comment on individual clubs but there are concerns about the money coming into the English game from outside the country.
