Manchester United are odds-on favourites to land Chelsea defender target Fabio Coentrao.

SkyBet are offering an incredibly short 8/13 on the Red Devils landing the Portuguese defender before February 1st, with the chasing pack well behind in the market.

David Moyes was reportedly close to bringing the player to Manchester United in the summer, but a loan move to Old Trafford fell apart in the final stages of the window.

Since then, the Premier League champions have struggled on the pitch, with the Red Devils languishing in mid-table – 11 points off the top spot.

However, they've been linked with a discount deal for the Real Madrid star, with reports at the end of December claiming Moyes could land the player for as little as £12.5million.

The bookies clearly believe Manchester United could striker a deal if they wished, and the odds suggest there is little chance that Coentrao will be moving elsewhere this month.

That potentially rules out Chelsea from a move, with the Blues priced at 25/1 third favourites.

Jose Mourinho has worked with the player in the past, and speculation has previously claimed that a Stamford Bridge link-up could be in the card in 2014 - despite Cesar Azpilicueta and Ashley Cole already vying for Blues opportunities.

However, a move now appears further away than ever for Chelsea, in the eyes of the bookmakers at least, and the punters' money might be better spent elsewhere.
