New York Islanders' forward John Tavares scored a wonder goal last night to help his side beat Dallas Stars 4-2, with his one-timer looking eerily similar to many of Brett Hull's classics.

Hull was famous for the one-timer off his knee with Dallas, and Tavares did his best impression as he slotted the wrist shot past Stars' goaltender Dan Ellis.

Even sweeter, the goal came against the Stars, as the 23-year-old grabbed his 21st goal of what is fast becoming and an outstanding season.

Tavares, who has 56 points in 46 games played so far this season, was rewarded for his fine play this season with selection in the Team Canada side last week for the Sochi Olympics next month.

With labels such as 'the man' given to the young gun, Tavares is fast becoming compared with fellow Canadian star Sidney Crosby.
