Bubbling away menacingly under the surface ever since Jose Mourinho's eagerly-anticipated return to Stamford Bridge during the summer, the saga involving Mata's reduced role at Chelsea finally came erupting to the surface once again earlier this month after the player reacted angrily to being substituted during a Premier League tie at Southampton.

The Spaniard's frustrations are totally understandable, with the player having proved to be Chelsea's star performer over recent seasons. For whatever reason, Mourinho just doesn't seem to hold Mata in quite as high regard as most others.

Despite such frustration and his obvious desire to ensure he makes it on the plane to Brazil this summer, I believe Mata should stick it out in West London until the end of the season and prove to Mourinho once and for all that he has what it takes to adapt and play a crucial role in his setup.
