San Antonio Spurs guard Danny Green has been ruled out for four weeks with a broken hand.

Green sustained the injury during the first half of the Spurs' 104-86 win against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

And after initially being diagnoses as a sprained finger, subsequent MRI and X-ray results have confirmed that he has broken the second metacarpal bone in his left hand.

Green has been struggling this season, averaging 7.4 points and 3.0 rebounds per game, a far cry from the form which saw him net 27 points in Game 3 of the 2013 NBA Finals against the Heat.

The prognosis means that Green is not likely to feature again until mid-February for the Spurs who currently have a 29-8 record going into tonight's game against the New Orleans Pelicans.
