Man United to offer last-gasp deal to stop key star leaving

Manchester United boss David Moyes is to offer captain Nemanja Vidic a last-gasp offer of a new contract in order to convince him to remain at Old Trafford, according to the Mirror.

The Serbian centre-back’s current deal is up at the end of this season and he has been hotly linked with both Galatasaray and mega-rich Monaco, who are both looking to take advantage of his situation and sign him in the summer for nothing.

However Moyes is desperate not to lose a pivotal figure in his squad, and will reportedly offer Vidic a 12-month extension on his £90,000-a-week deal at the club.

This pales in comparison to what Galatasaray are prepared to pay however, with Mancini rumoured to have asked chiefs to stump up outrageous wages of around £150,000-a-week to lure him to Turkey.

Only last week did Vidic’s agent claim that his client was not ready to a pen a new deal at Unite, but Moyes wants to ensure the veteran defender is there next year, as his experience will be vital in steadying a ship that may be left rocking after a complete squad overhaul.

It remains to be seen whether or not the 32-year-old will accept United’s offer or seek pastures new abroad.
