Five things Manchester United must do in January (5)

4. Sign a world-class winger

United have plenty wingers, but are short on wingers with real quality, ones who can beat defenders with their trickery and pace.

It is a shame that the current crop of wingers have failed to make any impact and that their best winger so far this season has been 18-year-old Adnan Januzaj.

As seen in most of the games, United's attack mostly emerges from both the flanks and signing a world-class player in this area would provide the team the kind of attacking intent they've been lacking this season.

Marco Reus is the only winger who has been mentioned in the media. Reus is reportedly unhappy at Dortmund, but the club would have to activate a release clause just shy of £40m to open contract negotiations with the player.
