Ronnie O’Sullivan made light work of Robert Milkins on his way to the quarter-finals of the Dafabet Masters, winning 6-1 at the Alexandra Palace.

The world champion soared past the world number 13 who was making his debut in this event. He will play either Barry Hawkins or Ricky Walden in the last eight.

Milkins still had fresh memories of the 6-0 thrashing the Rocket handed to him in the UK Championship last month, and it looked like a case of déjà vu as O’Sullivan took control from the start.

The four-time winner of this event went ahead with a couple of 40 breaks, and doubled his lead with an 84. He made it three with two runs of 42, before rounding off the first session with a 91.

The lead was increased after the break, as runs of 64 and 59 in frame five moved the Rocket one away from victory.

Milkins managed to get himself on the scoreboard in the next with a 47, before a mistake in the next allowed O’Sullivan to knock in 46 to close the match out.
