Oklahoma City Thunder superstar Kevin Durant continued his relentless march towards a clean sweep of individual NBA honours this season with a pair of magnificent performances in the space of 48 hours last weekend, scoring a whopping 84 points in back-to-back wins over Golden State and Sacramento.

Durant's epic career-high haul of 54 points against the Warriors on Friday proved the difference in a 127-121 win for the Thunder, a display followed up last night with another 30 in a dominant victory over the Kings.

The 25-year-old now leads the NBA scoring charts by more than 4.5 points-per-game from nearest challenger Carmelo Anthony, the widest margin in the ppg race since 1987, when a certain Michael Jordan was top of the pile.

A shooting run of 10 out of 15 from the field scarcely tells the story of Durant's efforts against Sacramento on Sunday, with a 108-93 success which also included nine assists and six rebounds for the MVP in-waiting.

On this evidence Miami Heat talisman LeBron James has some serious work to do in order to claim a third-successive MVP title, as both men look to find top form heading into the business end of the campaign.
