Raw kicked off with The Authority already in the ring building up The Royal Rumble match before introducing a former member of Evolution, but Randy Orton’s music hits and the WWE World Heavyweight Champion headed to the ring where he asked Stephanie and Triple H who they thought they were, to which Stephanie told Randy she didn’t know who he thought he was before plugging the WWE Network and showing Randy the video of him attacking John Cena’s dad last week.

Stephanie then told Randy that his actions belittled the WWE world heavyweight championship and if he did anything like that again he wouldn’t have to worry about defending his title because he will no longer be on the WWE roster.

Orton then talked about Batista and Brock Lesnar and how angry he was about everything The Authority had put him through, and Triple H replied that he thought Randy was built to be the face of WWE and they have faith in him even though he has lost faith in himself before telling him he will face Kofi Kingston again tonight as well as showing him that John Cena will arrive later tonight and he will make it right.

Batista’s music hit and the six time world champion headed to the ring with The Authority clapping him. The Animal then kissed the ring mat and hugged Stephanie and Triple H before they exited the ring and left Randy and Batista alone.

Randy offered Batista his hand which he refused and told him he had come back for his belt. He doesn’t care who holds it, he wants it. He is back to win the Royal Rumble, become WWE World Heavyweight Champion and headline WrestleMania.

The Shield v Cody Rhodes, Goldust and Big E Langston

Raw returned with the champions in the ring as The Shield made their entrance. Dean Ambrose and Big E Langston started the match up before Seth Rollins was tagged in along with Goldust went to work on the smaller man. The quick tags allowed the other team to alienate Seth from his team mates and started to wear him down.

Raw returned with Roman Reigns in control of Cody before The Shield used their team work against him to bring Seth back in, Reigns was then tagged back in and was hit by a disaster kick to allow him to tag in Big E. Langston tried to hit The Big Ending on Dean but Rollins interfered and was sent out of the ring before Big E hit a belly to back to Ambrose. Reigns then hit Cody with a superman punch and Rollins was tagged in to hit Blackout for the win.

After the match The Shield celebrated as a team.

Daniel Bryan was out in the ring when Raw returned and was finally set to break his silence regarding The Wyatt family. The crowd started a “Daniel Bryan” chant before telling the crowd “Some people say I shouldn’t be the face of this company.” He then talked about the plan he had joining the Wyatt family and how he did it mentally.

He said he took all the punishment and lies because he was waiting for that one chance that came last week inside the steel cage. Bryan then talked about their Royal Rumble match where he will go one on one with Bray and Harper and Rowan won’t be involved. The “Yes” chants began and Bray’s music hit and he came up on the screen. He called Bryan a traitor and said he only exposed himself.

He then said that people only look up to him because they chose to kneel. And told him to go home and hug his family and apologise because everything that happens next is his own fault.

Raw returned with R-truth on commentary and Xavier woods facing Fandango.

Xavier Woods v Fandango

Woods took it to Fandango in the opening stages but Fandango gained the upper-hand and hit his leg drop finisher for the win.

After the match NXT diva Emma was shown dancing in the audience.

BACKSTAGE: Brad and Kane were talking about Batista’s return before Stephanie sent Brad out and then asked Kane what he was thinking choke-slamming CM Punk. She then told Kane that him joining the authority was a risk and he cannot put his hands on a WWE Superstar again. Kane then said he understood and apologised. But Stephanie then told him he should apologise to CM Punk tonight.

Kane’s music hit and he headed to the ring and called out CM Punk. The best in the world obliged and came down to the ring.

Kane then apologised to Punk to which Punk replied that he didn’t hear a word he said, and Kane apologised again. CM Punk then said he was sorry to and the hit Kane with the microphone and a running knee to throw him from the ring.

Kane then went after Punk and Brad came out to stop him and said that Punk would now be facing one of the New Age Outlaws.

CM Punk v Billy Gunn

Road Dogg joined JBL and Michael Cole on commentary whilst Punk and Gunn went up against each other.

Gunn took the fight outside and allowed Dogg to distract Punk in order to gain the upper-hand. Raw returned from commercial with Gunn in a sleeper hold, Gunn reversed it and put Punk into the lock.

Punk fought out but was hit with a drop kick but took too long showing off and Punk hit the high kick to knock him out of the ring before Punk climbed out of the ring the opposite side and attacked the Road Dogg.

Punk then climbed back in the ring and hit the neck breaker for a two count, before mocking the outlaws and hitting the high knee. Road Dogg interfered and allowed Gunn to hit the sidewalk slam for a two count on Punk.

Punk then went for the elbow drop but Road Dogg pulled Gunn from the ring so punk hit him from the top rope. Punk then pulled Gunn back into the ring and hit the GTS for the win.

After the match Brad and Kane congratulated him before announcing that CM Punk would enter Sunday’s Royal Rumble at number 1.

BACKSTAGE: Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman were shown arriving at the arena.

WWE then paid tribute to Mae Young and looked back at the life and career of the pioneer of Women’s Wresting.

Rey Mysterio v Alberto Del Rio

For the third time in a week Rey and Del Rio faced off, collar and elbow tie up started the match and Del Rio took the upper-hand and got a quick two count.

Rey then hit a kick to the face of Del Rio and took him to the outside before hitting a backflip off the apron, but the tides turned back into Del Rio’s favour after he stomped Rey into the mat and then kicked him from the ring.

Rey tried to fight out of a chin lock but was hit with a tilt and while back breaker and Del Rio then went on the offense going after Rey’s back. Del Rio then tried to rip off Rey’s mask again and Rey crawled out of the ring to escape.

Rey tried to fight back but went shoulder first into the steel post, Del Rio tried to take advantage but Rey moved and Del Rio hit the ring post as well.

Mysterio hit his move-set to gain the two count over Del Rio before he hit the head scissors and went for the 619 but Del Rio caught him and launched him into the corner for a two count.

Del Rio went for the cross arm breaker but Rey fought out to deliver the 619 and dropped the dime for the two count as Del Rio grabbed the bottom rope.

Rey was then thrown face first before Del Rio locked in the arm breaker for the submission win.

After the match Batista’s music hit and out came the Animal who threw off his sunglasses and stood toe to toe with Del Rio, a Batista hit the spine-buster on Del Rio followed by the Batista Bomb.

BACKSTAGE: Big Show was heading to the ring to stand face to face with Brock Lesnar.

Raw returned with Big Show heading to the ring whilst video clips of Brock and Big Show were shown on the screen. Big Show talked about the Royal Rumble and took the mick out of Paul Heyman doing an impression of him before telling the audience how dangerous Brock Lesnar was but he still doesn’t like him and called him out.

Lesnar obliged and out came Paul Heyman and the beast in carnate. Lesnar approached the ring before turning around and heading backstage. Big Show then took the microphone and called him out again this time Lesnar got into the ring and stood toe to toe with The Big Show s the two stared each other down.

Big Show flinched before Lesnar tried to take him down but he threw Lesnar before lifting him and throwing him out of the ring. The beast then destroyed the ring area and tried to run into the ring with a chair but Big Show had it scouted and mocked Lesnar from inside the ring.

AJ Lee and Tamina Snuka v The Funkadactyls

Tamina and Cameron started the match up with Tamina using her strength advantage before he tagged in AJ who hit the neck breaker for the three count.

Cameron fought back as Tamina came back in and tagged in Naomi who hit the rear view and the elbow from the second rope but ran into the big boot from Tamina

AJ was then tagged back in and skipped around the ring and Naomi rolled her up for the win.

After the match AJ screamed in the ring when she realised she had lost.

The Usos v The Wyatts

Harper and Rowan took on The Uso’s for the third time in a week after the Uso’s beat the Wyatts in a steel cage in last week’s main event.

Rowan threw Jimmy from the ring and Harper tried to take advantage but The Uso’s fought back with kicks and slaps and Jimmy Uso hit the cross body from the top rope for a two count.

The two exchanged punches before Harper was tagged in and he threw Jimmy off the tope rope and into the barricade.

Raw returned with The Wyatts on top and Rowan tagged out to Harper who kept Jimmy grounded.

Bray Wyatt found a microphone part way through the match and started talking about Daniel Bryan and how hell awaits him at the Royal Rumble.

The match continued and Jimmy fought out to tag in Jey who came in off the hot tag and hit kicks and punches to everyone followed by a Samoan drop to Harper.

He then hit a superkick to Rowan before Harper hit Jey with a forearm followed by a slam for a two count but Daniel Bryan came out and assaulted Bray Wyatt. Harper was distracted and Jey got the roll up pin off the distraction.

Randy Orton v Kofi Kingston

The rematch from last week’s Raw saw Kofi take the on WWE World Heavyweight champion in the main event. Randy took it to Kofi in the opening stages but was continuously looking over his shoulder in case John Cena showed up.

Randy was thrown to the outside where he bounced Kofi off the announce table before sliding him back in the ring for a two count. Kofi fought back with his kicks and got the two count over Orton before he was thrown into the turnbuckle.

Kofi tried a backslide but Orton kicked out, The champion then tried to hit his DDT from the second rope but Kofi reversed into a pinning position Orton kicked out and saw John Cena arrive on the big screen and Kofi kept hold of Orton whilst Cena ran to the ring.

Cena threw Orton into the ring post and out into the crowd where he followed him and they brawled in The Shields entrance space. Orton fought out of an AA and retreated up the stairs where Cena caught him again and continued the beat down.

Randy headed out of the arena and outside into a waiting car leaving John alone outside the arena. Cena then came back into the arena and celebrated with the fans.

So The Royal Rumble is Sunday! And the build-up has intensified. Who will win that converted spot in the main event of Wrestlemania? And who will head into Mania season as The Champion? There is only four days to go until all of our questions are answered!!
