Chelsea midfielder Josh McEachran has joined Championship outfit Wigan Athletic on loan until the end of the season.

The 20-year-old Englishman has enjoyed previous spells at Watford, Middlesbrough and Swansea but has failed to hold down a spot in Jose Mourinho's first team plans.

McEachran, who rose through the ranks at Chelsea, made his first senior appearance in 2010.

The England Under-21 midfielder has gone onto make seven starts and 15 substitute appearances since his debut against Zilina in 2010.

McEachran joined Swansea in January 2012 on a short-term spell before spending the entire 2012/13 season on loan at Middlesbrough.

The Wigan new boy joined Watford at the start of the season - plying his trade under the Hornets' former manager Gianfranco Zola - but moved back to Stamford Bridge at the beginning of the year.

McEachran will link up with fellow England Under-21 star Nick Powell at the DW Stadium.

Uwe Rosler's Wigan are currently 11th in the Championship.
