Wasps winger Christian Wade has tipped England for Six Nations glory ahead of next month’s opener against France.

The 22-year-old burst onto the scene last season, winning both the Players' Player of the Year and the Young Player of the Year in the Aviva Premiership after scoring 13 tries for his club.

International recognition also came Wade’s way, making his England debut in Argentina before featuring for the British & Irish Lions in a tour match against the Brumbies.

However, he won’t be featuring in the Six Nations after damaging ligaments in his left foot back in November. That hasn’t stopped him tipping Stuart Lancaster’s side to win the Championship for the first time since 2011.

“Yes I definitely think we can win, we have the squad and the management to take us forward,” he told GiveMeSport after signing a new long-term contract at Wasps.

“We fell short last year and will definitely be out to make amends this time around. It all starts with that tough fixture against the French in France. It's going to be a good one.”

Having played himself into international contention, Wade is understandably disappointed to be missing out on the tournament with just over a year to go until the 2015 World Cup on home soil.

He’s hopeful that another chance will fall his way in the future though, and when back from injury wants to add his abilities to a squad that is already in ‘a good place’.

“I'm extremely disappointed, the squad is in a good place and I'm disappointed I won't be able to play a part on the pitch,” he concluded.

“Hopefully I will get another chance in the future.”
